Wendy is a North Carolina native, born in Greensboro. Oil and pastel landscape painting has been her primary focus. Her education includes obtaining an Associate of Arts Degree from Peace College, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Returning to school later, she completed a second major in Interior Design at Meredith College.
In addition to being and artist her career includes positions as a technical illustrator, a manual and CAD draftsperson, a picture framer, art gallery assistant and a commercial interior designer.
After years of working in art related fields Wendy aspired to return to her college art training. She then began to study studio painting under Mary Anne K Jenkins in 1995. To better understand the landscape and to capture the inspiration of being in nature as one paints, in 2001 she began studying “plein air” painting.
She is juried as a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and is a participating member of Paint NC, the Pastel Society of North Carolina and the Triangle Artists Guild. She has been accepted in and received awards in juried shows in the Triangle Area since 1997. Wendy discovered Lexington Virginia when her sister moved here a few years back. Although she doesn't live here, she tries to visit her sister, and historic Rockbridge County, as often as she can!
