Betsy Moore and Jinx Constine have a lot in common, so it makes perfect sense that these two artists are showing their paintings together at the July First Friday Art Walk at Cabell Gallery of Virginia Art. Both studied art at Virginia universities, yet pursued careers in other fields- interior design and finance, respectively. The call of art never left them and both returned to their original passion, taking workshops across the United States with well-known artists to jump-start their painting careers.

Betsy Moore began her formal art training at Mary Baldwin University, where she earned a degree in Fine Art and English. She moved on to study interior design at Virginia Commonwealth University and the Parsons School of Design/The New School in Rome, Florence, and Venice, Italy. During her time abroad, she focused on architecture and perspective drawing. Today as a plein air painter, she is inspired by the patterns and colors found in nature and everyday life. Through her light brushstrokes, she aims to capture the airiness and tranquility of her scene, bringing expression into her paintings.

Jinx Constine “Country Storm”

Jinx Constine “Country Storm”

Jinx Constine has a family history of painting as both her father and grandmother were avid painters. She studied at the University of Virginia, earning a degree in Art History, yet moved on to a career in the finance world. Art was never far from her mind and she continued to pursue her craft through various local workshops. She is currently focusing on plein air painting, enjoying the challenge of the changing light and environment. She considers painting to have meditative qualities, the serenity of which you can see in her use of soothing colors.

Both artists have selected Virginia landscapes and aspects of rural Virginia life to show for our July First Friday event. You will be enchanted by the rolling hills, winding country roads, and mountains. There’s even a big red truck or two. Come experience for yourself the talent and vision the works of Betsy Moore and Jinx Constine exhibit at The Cabell Gallery of Virginia Art throughout the month of July.

The Cabell Gallery focuses on fine art from regional contemporary artists, emerging and established.

We have a variety of original paintings, oil, watercolor, acrylic and pastel, along with clay works, art glass, jewelry, furniture and other artistic objects.

Please browse the Artist section of our website and see the work that we currently have in our gallery. Of course every effort is made to keep the website current, but we do have constant change in our gallery. Visiting in person will give you the most complete view of our selections.
