Held Over through November - Welcome Back, Dick Fowlkes!

Work on display October 6th - October 31st November 3oth

As you can tell, Dick’s paintings are all about color. At the age of nine, he was diagnosed with dyslexia and began learning in ways different from his peers. He learned by sight, small and sound, leaning into sense rather than traditional and standardized systems. He would rather you not give him a book but give him a paint brush and he’ll tell you a story. He considers his “Dickslexia” a gift and a talent. “Expose the eyes to an object and let the brain lead you to create what you see, smell and feel. The effects of painting on his mind, body and soul motivates him to express himself in the purest way possible, bringing him joy.

Dick is a hoot. If you’ve met him, you understand and chances are you’ve met him. Dick knows a lot of people and you probably have mutual connections. He’s the kind of guy that makes you feel as if you’ve known him all your life.

After selling his renowned Richmond men’s boutique, Peter-Blair, he spends his leisure time traveling and exploring, but most importantly, painting his favorite scenes of the Blue Ridge from his Rockbridge weekend home.
